Michael Peretzian’s Bio

Michael holds a Masters degree in Theatre History as well as an MFA in Directing for the Theatre from UCLA. He began his motion picture career in the mailroom of the William Morris Agency and became one of the most respected literary agents in Hollywood. First at William Morris, and then at Creative Artists Agency, he represented a distinguished list of international screenwriters/directors, including Academy Award winners Christopher Hampton.(LES LIASONS DANGEUREUSE), Anthony Minghella (THE ENGLISH PATIENT), and Alexander Dinelaris (BIRDMAN). He also co-represented the film/television careers of playwrights and directors including Terrence McNally, Beth Henley, Mark Medoff, Jon Robin Baitz, Sir Richard Eyre, David Leveaux, Scott Ellis, Steven Sater and Joe Mantello.

One of the most respected playwrights, screenplay writers, and adaptors, of our time, Tony and Academy Award winner Sir Christopher Hampton, will share his thoughts about writing with us. He’ll discuss why he chooses the subjects he writes about, his passion for his work, and his current projects. We know you will delight in the history of his fascinating and award-winning career.

The writer of “Les Liaisons Dangereuses and the stage adaptation of “Sunset Boulevard”, Sir Christopher Hampton wrote his first play, When did you last see my mother? at the age of eighteen. Since then, his prolific career has included the plays The Philanthropist, Tales from Hollywood, Savages, White Chameleon, The Talking Cure, Appomattox, All About Eve, and the screenplays for Dangerous Liasons(Academy Award) and Total Eclipse.
